  WHAT TO DO

  MAIN ATTRACTIONS

The main attraction in K Gudi are the jungle safaris. Jeeps from the camp take you deep into the forest twice a day, with friendly and knowledgeable guides (naturalists) identifying animals for guests. There are different dirt tracks in the forest and the jeeps normally take varying routes, but keep in touch with each other over wireless to exchange notes on sightings. The park uses the traditional small jeeps with open tops, making it convenient for visitors to view the wildlife and to take pictures on all sides without obstructions. Tourists visiting K Gudi are generally ardent wildlife enthusiasts who observe jungle etiquette; this makes quite a difference to the safari experience.

The morning safaris are the best for sighting the larger animals while one can normally sight a number of the smaller denizens of the forest in the evening, as they come out to feed. The evening safaris are also more enchanting, especially when the shadows lengthen over the dense jungles and armies of crickets start their chorus. It is amazing how quickly the entire character of the jungle changes when the darkness creeps in, with human visibility limited to a few feet.

  OTHER ATTRACTIONS

Go on a trek into the forest with official guides. Alternatively, you can take an elephant ride into the forest. Although elephants cannot cover as much distance as the jeeps, a ride on a pachyderm is quite a unique and unforgettable experience.

Visit hamlets of primitive tribals (Soliga and Jenukuruba) to observe the life styles of these people who have made the forest their home for many centuries. Observe and learn how these people live in complete harmony with nature.

Go on a trekking trip to the mountain peak and visit the sacred temple of Biligiri Rangaswamy.

Take a Nature Walk to get to know more about the flora of the jungles or to observe its varied bird species (more than 250 in number).

Make a trip to a nearby coffee estate to learn more about the cultivation and harvesting of this cash crop.
