| Hiring
Taxis |
| |
Taxis
at airports and railway stations normally run on pre-fixed rates.
One-way fares can be expensive; it may be better to hire a taxi
from a regular taxi operator in the town and retain it for the duration
of your stay. This can normally be organised through your hotel.
| |
If
you need cars with seat belts (highly recommended), please do not
hire an Ambassador car as these normally do not have seat belts.
Ask for one of the modern cars like Tata Indica, Maruti Esteem or
Hyundai Accent.
| |
If
you are a foreigner, it is strongly recommended that you do not
drive in India. The driving conditions are very different from those
in advanced countries and taxis are very affordable (around USD
25 per day). |
