MUDUMALAI NATIONAL PARK

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

  BEST TIME TO VISIT

Mudumalai can be visited throughout the year. The main national park may be closed occasionally during the dry period of March-April to avoid forest fires (please contact the Wildlife department for details), but the rest of the sanctuary is open through the year. The private resorts and hotels also function throughout the year. The two monsoon periods (milder South West monsoon showers in July and heavier North-East monsoon rains in October-November) are avoidable. The forests are lush green after the monsoons and therefore the post monsoon months can be very pleasant if you wish to savour the jungles in full bloom. January to June is cited as the best season, but animal sightings chances are almost equal through the year since the vegetation is mainly deciduous and scrub jungle.

  HOW MUCH TIME TO PLAN

Mudumalai offers a number of adventure activities for the tourist. To take full advantage of these, one would have to plan a long enough stay. A minimum of 3-4 days is advised. This will also give you enough time to rest between various activities and also to visit nearby sight seeing spots.
