  FOREST DEPARTMENT ACCOMODATION
       
The Forest department has accomodation (suites as well as dormotories) at Theppakadu, Kargudi and Masinagudi. Rates for suites range from Rs 150 to 300 per suite per day. Dormitories cost around Rs 25 per bed per day. Catering facilities are available.
       
It is preferable to make advance reservations by contacting the Wildlife Warden, Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Mount Stuart Hill, Ooty – 643001 (Tel : +91-423-2444098, email : wlwooty@vsnl.com).
       
Current bookings, based on availability, can be made at the reception centre at Theppakadu (Tel : +91-423-2526235).
       
  PRIVATE RESORTS AND HOTELS
 
 
 
 
Mudumalai is dotted with a number of very good private resorts, many of which are run by individuals or families who are keen nature lovers. Resorts are located in a radius of 8-12 Kms from Masinagudi. The roads to these resorts are generally motorable but if you do not have your own transport, most resorts will arrange to pick you up from a proximate bus or rail station, or town. Some good resort options are mentioned below :
       
Jungle Retreat
This is an extremely well run resort with facilities that match international standards. Set on a large spread of land, this resort offers a variety of very tastefully designed cottages and rooms. Excellent staff and good wholesome food add to the experience. Also has good infrastructure for various outdoor activities. Room rates range from Rs 1200 to 1400 per day for a double room, with food charged extra at around Rs 600 per person. Forest Hills Farm and Guest House
Also located near Bokkapuram village, this is a small but cozy resort which is housed in a comfortable forest bungalow. We have experienced a very pleasant stay here, marked by extremely friendly staff and excellent hospitality. A high point of this resort is the proximity to the hills and the beautiful walks it offers. Room rates are about Rs 1000 per day for a double room, with food charged extra. Jungle Hut Guest House
Also located near Bokkapuram village. Although we have not stayed here, this resort is run by the same management as in Jungle Retreat, and one can expect the same high standards. Charges rates similar to those at Jungle Retreat. Can be contacted on telephone at +91-423-2526240.
 
Bamboo Banks Farm Guest House
This is one of the earliest jungle lodges in Mudumalai. While we have not stayed here, friends who have been here recount good experiences on the quality of the resort and its hospitality. Room rates are around Rs 1000 per day for a double room. Food is charged extra. They can be contacted by telephone on +91-423-2526211 (fax : +91-423-2526222).
 
Monarch Safari Park
A large and well organised resort which is part of the Monarch hotel chain. Has cottages as well as log huts built on stilts. Also has conference facilities suitable for organisational outbreaks. Room rates vary from Rs 1100 to Rs 1400 per day for a double room. Food is charged extra. Can be contacted on the phone at +91-423-2526326.
 
Some other options available are Blue Valley Resorts (+91-423-2526244), Jain Resorts (+91-423-2526318), Wild Haven Resorts, Green Park Resorts and Belmount Resorts.
 
Budget travellers have good options in Hotel Dreamland (+91-423-2526127), Mountania Rest House (+91-423-2526337) or Belleview Resort (+91-423-2526351), all of which are located in Masinagudi.
